Review of the fishing situation

As of September 24, 2023, the level of quota development (TAC) by users of the Kamchatka Territory and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (industrial, including coastal) is 81%. The catch of “quota” fisheries is 837,914 tons of aquatic biological resources (week +14,435 tons). Compared to 2022, the volume of production (catch) is higher by 27,667 tons, or 103.4% by 2022.

The development of industrial, including coastal quotas (TAC) for investment purposes by users of the Kamchatka Territory is 72.5% (catch - 50,134 tons), compared to 2022 indicators - more by 7,582 tons.

The main fishing objects in terms of production (catch) volumes: pollock – 574,131 tons (catch share 69%); Pacific herring – 81,852 tons (10%); Far Eastern flounder – 46,221 tons (6%), cod – 42,659 tons (5%); Commander squid – 41,331 tons (5%), navaga – 24,185 tons (3%).

Negative dynamics relative to the 2022 indicators are observed for cod - 12,048 tons less, for greenlings - 3,456 tons less, and for cucumaria - 1,088 tons less.

Positive dynamics are observed for Pacific herring - more by 19,777 tons, for Commander squid - more by 8,437 tons, for pollock - more by 7,298 tons, for navaga - more by 4,535 tons, for Far Eastern flounder - more by 2,741 tons , for grenadiers – more by 1,164 tons.

As of September 24, 2023, the total catch of crabs (Kamchatka crab, blue crab, equal-thorn crab, snow crab and opilio crab) in the Department’s area of responsibility is 18,848 tons (+540 tons per week). Of these, 7,745 tons are within the framework of investment quotas. The total catch volume is 3,105 tons higher than the same indicators in 2022 (in 2022 the catch was 15,743 tons).

  • In the West Bering Sea zone, blue crab was caught - catch 4,450 tons (including catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 1,293 tons), snow crab opilio - catch 2,765 tons (including catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 648 tons) and snow crab birdie - catch 485 tons (including catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 85 tons);
  • In the Western Kamchatka subzone, blue crab was caught – the catch was 2,406 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory – 472 tons), Kamchatka crab – the catch was 3,163 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory – 316 tons) , equal-spined crab - catch 269 tons (including catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 51 tons), snow crab opilio - catch 141 tons (including catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - less than 1 ton);
  • In the Kamchatka-Kuril subzone, snow crab was caught, the catch was 2,977 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 965 tons), Kamchatka crab - the catch was 457 tons (there were no Kamchatka users);

  • In the Karaginskaya subzone, the snow crab opilio was caught - the catch was 907 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 338 tons) and the snow crab birdie - the catch was 373 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 178 tons) ;
  • Snow crab birdie was caught in the Petropavlovsko-Komandor subzone, the catch was 457 tons (there were no Kamchatka users).
