ARGENTINA

As reflected in the official statistics until August 3 in general downloads. By fleet, sharp drop in the share of fresh fish. In the coastal ones, it fell by 21%, while in the high-altitude fish farms, it fell by 26%. Freezer double-rig trawlers grow by 7%.
The shrimp harvest shows a lower volume of unloading than in the last harvest, according to the official statistics of the Undersecretary of Fisheries that marks the evolution of landings of the main species until last August 3.

Until that date, the fleet declared landings of 113,500 tons, when by the same date, last year they had totaled 128,893 tons, 12% less than in 2021.
The irregular harvest in provincial waters of Chubut that the coastal fleet had, the greater controls on the weight of the boxes at the time of unloading in all the docks of the ports where the deep-sea freshwater fleet operates and some prolonged periods of bad weather , explain the general decline.
The entire fleet that operates fresh recorded fewer landings until August 3. Those from the roadstead/ría totaled 5,684 tons, 18% less than in the same period of 2021. Coastal ships show a 21% reduction, reaching 37,518 tons

The deep-sea fishermen are the segment of the fleet that registered the greatest decrease up to the date on which the statistical cut-off was produced. They landed 28,384 tons, 26% less than the 38,156 tons last year.
It is evident that the fleet adjusted to the weight of the crates based on the greater controls at the time of unloading. It is still a pending matter to know what happens on board during the tide in which they complete boxes of shrimp with less than 17 kilos. And that is resolved with a greater number of observers on board or an adequate monitoring system.
The only ones showing growth in landings are freezer double-rig trawlers. It has been 7% until August 3 and the fleet is close to 50 thousand tons. It adds 49,669 when last year it had added 46,317 tons.

The ports that received the unloadings of the shellfish show diverse results and reflect the problems that occurred at the beginning of the harvest in national waters after the officialization of Resolution 9.
While the main ports of Chubut register general declines, Mar del Plata and Puerto Deseado reflect significant increases. Puerto Madryn and Rawson showed a reduction in discharges of 10% and 7%, respectively, with 46,887 tons and 36,641 tons.
With much lower volume, Mar del Plata added 6,652 tons, an increase of 29% and Puerto Deseado received 9,876 tons, 28% more than last year.
These data are known at the time the shrimp campaign on pre-recruits and recruits in the San Jorge Gulf, the Chubut coast and national waters that was carried out in the BIP "Mar Argentino" was successfully completed.

All the scientific-technical personnel on board thanked the ship's crew and command for having been able to carry out the survey under the expected conditions, beyond the fact that the ship is not designed for this type of campaign.
The only problem appeared off the coast of Mar del Plata. The ship arrived at port yesterday morning. Already on the dock, a rope was detected at the height of the fin, according to what Alejandro Latte, head of Armament, said.
Other versions reported that the rope had gotten caught in the propeller when the ship passed through the area of the Cristo Rey Submarine Park. Latte rejected that version, although he assured that he would send a diver to determine if it is a loose end or if it was caught in some anode of the hull.
