The fishing and aquaculture sector led the region's shipments with transactions totaling US$3,408 million, registering a 2.6% increase, while regional service shipments recorded a 64% growth.

Puerto Montt – A positive commercial balance was registered by the Los Lagos Region during the first half of 2026. Between January and June, regional exports excluding copper and lithium reached the figure of US$3,661 million, which represents an increase of 2.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. On its part, the services sector experienced an advance of 64%, totaling US$3 million, according to the latest Export Report prepared by the ProChile Market Intelligence Department.

During this first half of the year, a total of 293 companies from the area carried out shipments of 353 different goods and services to 109 international markets, consolidating the region's position in Chile's foreign trade.

The regional director of ProChile Los Lagos, Ricardo Arriagada, positively valued the performance of local productive sectors, highlighting the diversification of the region's exportable offer:

"The Los Lagos Region maintains its export leadership, with salmon and trout as the main engine of regional shipments. But we also continue to observe sustained growth in other productive sectors, such as bovine meat, mussels, and fish derivatives. This is a very positive sign, because it confirms that the region continues to diversify its export matrix and that more and more companies are finding opportunities in international markets."

Fishing and aquaculture lead the export matrix

The sector of fish, shellfish, and aquaculture positioned itself once again as the main pillar of the region's foreign trade, totaling shipments of US$3,408 million, a figure that equivalent to an expansion of 2.6% in relation to the first half of 2025. The group composed of salmon and trout (Salmonidae and Oncorhynchus mykiss) concentrated a value of US$2,867 million. Mussels (Mytilus chilensis) added sales abroad for US$228 million, noting a growth rate of 11,4%.

Regarding industrial by-products of fishing, shipments of fish and crustacean meal reached US$96 million after expanding 39.6%, while fish oil generated returns of US$82 million, registering a positive year-on-year variation of 36.4%.

Sustained commercial dynamism in June

The performance in June confirmed the expansive pace of the region. During the sixth month of the year, non-copper non-lithium exports from the Los Lagos Region totaled US$522 million, which implies an increase of 9.2% compared to the same month of 2025. The priority destination markets were the United States, Brazil, Japan, and China, with salmon, trout, mussels, fish meals and oils, and bovine meat cuts once again outstanding in the exported basket.

Faced with the monthly evolution of shipments, Ricardo Arriagada specified that the data confirm the consolidation of commercial operations in the south of the country:

"The 9.2% growth registered in June confirms that the region's export activity continues to show a good performance. These are figures that allow us to look at the second half of the year with optimism and continue working so that more companies from Los Lagos reach new markets with their products and services."
