Afundación Headquarters to Host Sector Leaders on July 3rd to Boost Efficiency, Consumption, and Leadership in a Resilient Industry

VIGO – The Afundación Headquarters in Vigo is preparing to host the II Seafood Forum 2025 on July 3rd, a key event that will bring together the main players in the industry. Organized by TecnoSEAFOOD magazine of Interempresas Media and supported by Abanca, this technical conference will focus on technological innovation, new sales strategies, and the development of business leadership, under the motto "From Challenge to Opportunity: How to Drive Efficiency and Sales in a Resilient Sector."

The Forum's program will be structured into three fundamental thematic blocks, addressing the sector's challenges and opportunities from various perspectives:

1. The Challenge of Increasing Sales and Consumption: The day will begin with a global market analysis. Mª Luisa Álvarez, General Director of Fedepesca, will examine the evolution of seafood consumption in Spain and the keys to its positioning at the point of sale. Subsequently, Sofía Roca, Coordinator of New Foods at Azti, will present recent data on consumer perceptions and purchasing trends. Closing this block, María Martínez-Herrera, Sustainability Director at Asedas, will offer the distribution channel's perspective, detailing the expectations of supermarkets and large chains from producing companies in terms of efficiency, traceability, and demand adaptation.

2. Innovation and Technology to Improve Efficiency: This segment will focus on the latest technological advancements and sustainable management. María José Chapela Garrido, from Anfaco-Cecopesca, will present technological solutions to increase the added value of seafood products, with a special focus on High Pressure Processing (HPP) and other preservation technologies. Marta Onrubia, from Hiperbaric, will showcase examples of companies using this technology. Additionally, Pablo Pita, a researcher at CICA (University of A Coruña), will delve into the applications of artificial intelligence in fisheries management, with the Os Miñarzos Marine Reserve case as an example of how digitalization can improve the sustainability.

3. The Leadership Challenge: The Forum will conclude with a round table on talent attraction and retention in the industry. Moderated by Javier Fraga (Abanca Mar), it will feature the participation of Teo Llanderas (Pescapuerta), Elena Garrido (Jealsa), and Sofía Aché (Stolt Sea Farm). The debate will address the challenges companies face in attracting and retaining executive talent, as well as the importance of advanced training to face new global scenarios. In this context, the new Executive Master in Seafood Management will also be presented, a training initiative promoted by Abanca to professionalize management in the seafood value chain.

This event promises to be a crucial space for knowledge exchange and the search for innovative solutions that will drive the future of the fishing industry.
