The 'Xin Huan No. 1' deep-sea intelligent cage aquaculture platform is 135 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 20 meters high

China's largest semi-submersible marine ranching platform, 'Xin Huan 1,' will be put into operation in Sanya in June

Final preparations are officially underway in Sanya Bay as China prepares to commission its largest semi-submersible intelligent marine ranching and aquaculture platform, Xin Huan 1 (also referred to as Xin Huan No. 1).

According to reports from the  Hainan Daily  newspaper,  Nanhai.com , and the  New Hainan Client , construction workers are steadily completing the final touches on the massive structure ahead of its official operational launch this  June .

Measuring  135 meters  long,  30 meters  wide, and  20.5 meters  high, the colossal platform boasts a total aquaculture capacity of  64,000 cubic meters . It is scientifically engineered with  five  major aquaculture zones,  32  aquaculture spaces, and  24  specialized seedling ponds—making it the first semi-submersible cage platform in China to feature a dedicated high-quality incubation environment for premium species like lobsters and groupers. The entire cage features an ingenious modular design divided into  26  independent water bodies to manage fish rotation cycles and mitigate risks, driving expected annual production to between  1 million and 2 million kilograms  ( 1 to 2 million kg , or up to  2 million jin ) of fish.

The high-tech vessel is equipped with a modern ballast system allowing it to operate dynamically at depths of  20 to 100 meters . Utilizing 24-hour uninterrupted natural seawater circulation technology, it restores a wild growth environment for the aquatic products. It also features advanced net-lifting equipment and full-process cold storage facilities to handle everything from harvesting and sorting to storage. The structural durability of the platform has already been proven in real-world extreme weather, having successfully withstood the impacts of super typhoons  Mangkut  and  Kujira .

Beyond its primary industrial capabilities,  Xin Huan 1  breaks the mold of traditional single-aquaculture models by deeply integrating cultural tourism and recreational fishing. The platform features  21  functional rooms, including staff dormitories, guest rooms, a kitchen, a restaurant, a medical office, and a conference room, alongside premium entertainment amenities like satellite TV and KTV.

Li Xihuan , chairman of  Sanya Jufu Marine Technology Co., Ltd. , explained the distinct structural division designed to maximize tourist comfort:

"We have physically separated the aquaculture deck from the tourism deck, ensuring that the three areas of tourist recreation, worker operations, and aquaculture do not interfere with each other, creating a tranquil and comfortable seaside leisure space for tourists."

The mega-project represents a landmark achievement for the transformation of Sanya's fisheries and a vital pillar for the nation's food security strategy. By linking land-based material supply, multi-million dollar processing networks, and luxury maritime services, local authorities aim to pioneer a highly efficient "aquaculture + processing + tourism" economic model.

A relevant official from the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that the platform will help build a full industrial chain development model to promote the transformation of traditional fisheries into intelligent, ecological, and modern systems, ultimately helping Hainan's marine economy improve quality, efficiency, and achieve high-quality development.

全長135メートル、幅30メートル、高さ20.5メートルに及ぶこの巨大なプラットフォームは、総養殖容積64,000立方メートルを誇る。科学的に設計された5つの主要養殖ゾーン、32の養殖スペース、そして24の専門的な稚魚・稚蝦池を備えており、ロブスターやハタといった高級魚種の育成・孵化のための専用かつ高品質な環境を特徴とする半潜水式ケージ養殖プラットフォームとしては中国初となる。ケージ全体には、26の独立した養殖水体に細分化された独創的なモジュール設計が採用されており、養殖サイクルの正確な区分と魚の輪番管理を可能にし、養殖リスクを低減させている。これにより、年間魚類生産量は100万〜200万キログラム100万〜200万kg、または最大200万斤)に達する見込みである。

このハイテク船舶には先進的なバラストシステムが搭載されており、水深20〜100メートルの海域で動的に運用できる。24時間途切れることのない自然海水循環技術を活用することで、魚類の自然な生育環境を最大限に復元している。また、近代的なネット吊り上げ設備や全工程対応の冷淡・冷凍保管施設も備えており、漁獲、選別から保管に至る全チェーンの標準化された管理を可能にしている。このプラットフォームの構造的な耐久性は、過去に大型台風マンクット(台風22号)やクジラ(台風21号)の直撃に耐え抜いたことで、実際の過酷な気象条件下においてすでに実証されている。

中心となる養殖機能にとどまらず、新環1号は従来の単一の養殖モデルを打破し、文化観光産業やレジャー漁業と深く融合している。プラットフォーム内には、従業員寮や客室として合理的に区分された21の機能室があり、厨房、レストラン、医務室、会議室などの生活・オフィス施設が完備されている。さらに、衛星テレビやKTV(カラオキー)などのレジャー・娯楽設備も備え、観光客の洋上での観光や休暇のニーズを満たしている。

三亜市巨富海洋科技有限公司李喜歓董事長(会長)は、観光客の快適性を最大限に高めるために設計された、明確な構造的区分について次のように説明した:

A multi-million dollar deep-sea project integrates advanced aquaculture with luxury maritime ecotourism.

As China prepares to officially launch its largest semi-submersible marine ranching intelligent aquaculture platform, " Xin Huan 1 " (also known as " Xin Huan Compulsory 1 "), in Sanya Bay , final preparations are in full swing. According to reports from Hainan Daily , Nanhai.com , and the New Hainan client , construction workers are steadily and systematically advancing the finishing touches on this massive structure ahead of its official operation in June this year.

This giant platform is 135 meters long , 30 meters wide, and 20.5 meters high , with a total aquaculture water volume of 64,000 cubic meters . Scientifically planned, the platform features five major aquaculture zones, 32 aquaculture spaces, and 24 specialized seedling ponds—making it the first semi-submersible cage aquaculture platform in China to utilize a dedicated, high-quality incubation environment for cultivating seedlings of valuable seafood such as lobsters and groupers. The entire cage employs a clever modular design, subdivided into 26 independent aquaculture water volumes to achieve precise division of the aquaculture cycle and categorized, rotating management of fish species, effectively reducing aquaculture risks. The estimated annual fish production is 1 to 2 million kilograms ( or up to 2 million catties ).

This high-tech vessel is equipped with an advanced ballast system, enabling it to operate dynamically in water depths ranging from 20 to 100 meters , adapting to different marine environments . By employing 24-hour continuous natural seawater circulation technology, it maximizes the restoration of the fish's natural growth environment. Furthermore, it features modern net-hauling equipment and end-to-end cold storage facilities, achieving standardized management across the entire chain from harvesting and sorting to storage. The platform's structural durability has been proven in real-world extreme weather conditions; it has successfully withstood the impacts of Super Typhoons Mangkhut and Whale .

In addition to its core industrial aquaculture function, " Xin Huan No. 1 " breaks away from the traditional single-species aquaculture model, deeply integrating with the cultural tourism industry and recreational fishing. The platform boasts 21 functional rooms, rationally divided into staff dormitories and guest rooms, and equipped with comprehensive living and office facilities such as a kitchen, restaurant, medical room, and conference rooms. It also features satellite TV, karaoke, and other recreational equipment, fully meeting the needs of tourists for sightseeing and leisure vacations at sea.

Li Xihuan , Chairman of Sanya Jufu Marine Technology Co., Ltd. , explained the unique structural division designed to maximize tourist comfort:

By closely linking land-based aquatic product processing, a multi-million dollar supply network, and luxury maritime tourism services, the local government aims to pioneer an efficient "aquaculture + processing + tourism" full-industry chain development model.

 

A relevant official from the Sanya Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that the platform will help build a full-industry chain development model, promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional fisheries to intelligent, ecological, and modern fisheries, and ultimately help Hainan's marine economy improve quality and efficiency, achieving high-quality development.
