Portugal has already used more than 50 percent of the fishing quota for 2021 of four species, while two others are approaching half, according to data from the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM).
Regarding plaice, the levels are already at 102 percent, exceeding the 26 tonnes stipulated for the capture of this species, followed by anchovy (74 percent), redfish (58 percent) and emperors (55 percent).
In turn, the fishing quota for mackerel and sea bream is close to half, with 46 percent and 45 percent, respectively.
Between 40 percent and 20 percent of use are sole (40 percent), bluefin tuna (35 percent), northern swordfish (35 percent), monkfish (28 percent), ray undulata (28 percent), 3LNO ray (26 percent), cod - northwest Atlantic (25 percent), white marlin (24 percent percent, black sword (22 percent), palm (22 percent), julienne (21 percent), rays (21 percent) and hake (20%).
According to DGRM data, sea bream appears with a second quota of 600 tonnes, 19 percent of which has already been used.
