Japanese researchers visit IFOP Puerto Montt and Valparaíso

During the month of September, within the framework of the SATREPS MACH project (Monitoring Algae in Chile: Development of monitoring methods and prediction system of harmful algal blooms for sustainable aquaculture and coastal fishing in Chile), a Chile-Japan international cooperation initiative financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japanese Science and Technology (JST), Dr. Mikihiko KAWAI from Kyoto University and Mr. Yuji MISU, coordinator of the project, visited the Pto. Montt and Valparaíso offices in Chile.
These visits had the objective of coordinating all computer aspects related to the project, which is in its final phase. In particular, aspects related to the ordering of the generated data, the administration of the Akashiwo server (red tide in Japanese) and the transfer of the project's website to this server were addressed.

At the Puerto Montt headquarters, the researchers met with the team from the Aquaculture Research Division, led by Dr. Leonardo Guzmán, together with the head of the Center for Harmful Algae Studies (CREAN), Dr. Oscar Espinoza, and in the central headquarters with Jaime González, Head of the Department of Information Technologies. In addition, the Executive Director received them in the company of Daniela Díaz, Head of Cooperation and International Affairs, to discuss the continuity of this cooperation alliance between Chile and Japan.
