Increased activity on the sandeel fields after the quota increase on Friday and more mackerel locked up last week
Sandeel
The start of the week was calm and we had 12 registrations with a total of 9650 tons until Friday. The fishing has been uneven where vessels have spent from 2-5 days loading with just over 1,000 tonnes.
The tension in the week was against whether there was an increase in the quota, and this came on Friday afternoon where the quota was increased from 110,000 tonnes to 145,000 tonnes, an increase of 35,000 tonnes. This means that most vessels get 1-2 trips extra.

On Saturday morning after the increase, 13 new vessels had arrived in the field and of these, only a few have registered. There is a lot of activity in the field and there are reports of normally good fishing, the main part of the catch is taken at Outer Shoal and some at Tarehal.
After the increase, 6,850 tonnes of 6 catches have been reported, which gives us a week's result of 16,500 tonnes of sandeel. There are good weather forecasts ahead and we expect an increase in registrations in the next few days.
Mixed fishing on the edge
There is a small fleet in activity on mixed fishing on the edge, this week 599 tonnes of Norway Pout, 341 tonnes of blue whiting and 60 tonnes of herring have been reported from 4 reports.
Mackerel / Horse mackerel
There is an increase in mackerel locked up for fresh use, this week 37.5 tonnes of mackerel and 6 tonnes of horse mackerel have been reported. The catches were taken from Hjelmeland in the south to Alver in the north. The size has varied from 250 to 500 grams where most are over 380 grams.
