Seychelles and Mayotte sign a new 6-year fishing agreement that allows seychelles-flagged tuna vessels to operate in the waters of the French overseas department, while being reciprocal in its terms for Mayotte vessels fishing in Seychelles waters.
The six-year agreement was signed by the Seychelles Chief Fisheries Secretary, Roy Clarisse, and Emmanuel Berck, Deputy Head of the Trade Negotiations Unit.
BioMar is the first global aquafeed supplier to adopt this 1.5°C path to net zero under the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has stated that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions must be cut in half by 2030 and reach zero by 2050 to avoid the worst effects of climate change. To achieve this goal, private and public entities must follow a line of reductions to keep global warming below 1.5 ºC.

The United Kingdom officially lifted import restrictions on Japanese food products related to radionuclides on 29 June, 2022.
The restrictions on products were introduced after the 2011 disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station operated by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), which released radiation into the surrounding environment after the East Japan Earthquake.

Aquaculture disease management and dynamic dosing expert Aqua Pharma are joining forces with microbial fingerprinting experts KYTOS to develop SEATRUTM – a unique new service platform offering shrimp farmers worldwide effective microbial control through precise dosing recommendations.
The initiative is set to start next month (July 2022) with a two-year research project based in Indonesia with local partner eFishery, the world’s largest aquaculture tech start-up.
Feed giant Cargill and French fly farmer Innovafeed have extended a partnership to jointly develop and market insect meal for use in aquaculture and terrestrial farming from three years to 10.
The agreement combines Innovafeed’s expertise in formulating precision insect ingredients and Cargill’s global animal nutrition capabilities to scale up the use of insect ingredients in multiple types of animal feed.

The shipowners of Ondarroa have described the closure of 94 fishing grounds as a "hammer blow", as the EU is trying to impose. According to Kiko Marin, from the Organization of Ondarroa Producers, "a good part of the areas that are closed are on the cliffs (usual fishing areas for fixed-gear vessels, such as longliners and flyers. Apart from the fact that the access to these areas also for trawlers there are going to be cohabitation problems as a result of these closures.
The UK Government has unveiled new initiatives to protect the marine ecosystem at the United Nations Conference on the Oceans.
The British Executive has announced that it will allocate 150 million pounds sterling through a new global program, known as COAST, to protect and restore coastal and marine habitats such as corals or seagrass beds, improve the sustainability and productivity of small-scale fishing and help developing countries unlock the potential of aquaculture.

Scoot Science, an ocean analytics company, has announced that Cermaq Canada is the first company to adopt its new ocean forecasting tools in its proprietary SaaS platform, SeaState. Cermaq is also the first to activate the Scoot Integrated Welfare Index known as SIWI and to engage Scoot in bespoke analysis projects that helped refine the company’s standard operating procedures.
SeaState, the world’s first ocean intelligence platform for aquaculture, is now running across 26 Cermaq sites in Canada.
The ICES has released its advice on fishing opportunities for 2023 for North East Atlantic areas including the West of Scotland, the North Sea, Irish Sea and Celtic Sea.

Cooke Aquaculture has said it considers its AU $1 billion (£567m) bid for the Tasmanian salmon farmer Tassal to be an attractive proposition for shareholders.
Yesterday the company submitted an offer of AU $4.85 per share which was rejected by the Hobart based company.
It now turns out this was Cooke’s third offer, starting at AU $4.67 a share on 26 May, followed by A$4.80 a share on 6 June.
