Alcampo and MSC promote sustainable fishing

Alcampo and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) this week launched the "#miMarsuMar, fishing for future generations" campaign, which will add value to sustainable fisheries in all hypermarkets of the chain.
The campaign, which ends on 20 March, aims to raise consumers’ awareness about the importance of consuming fish responsibly.
As part of the solution, the campaign promoters intend to raise awareness of Alcampo commitment to sustainable fisheries and the value added by MSC certificate products to ocean health.
The campaign has promoters in Alcampo stores, posters and communication materials at the sales points and on social networks under the hashtag #miMarsuMar.
Furthermore, Alcampo and MSC will conduct educational workshops in Rik&Rok Club, for 4 to 10 year-old children, who, in this way, will be able to learn more about the importance of protecting the seas.
This campaign takes place at the same time as the expansion of MSC certificate product range available in Alcampo, where it is possible to find about twenty fresh products (cod and hake) as well as frozen, semi-preserved ones, and recently incorporating a certified bonito of their own brand.
The product range that comes from the certified fisheries under the MSC standard for sustainable fishing is one of the commitments of Alcampo in its sustainable fisheries policy.
"The goal of the joint campaign we are carrying out with Alcampo is to inform consumers about certified sustainable fisheries and that it is possible for them to support them by purchasing from the best fishing practices that respect ocean health. Alcampo collaboration is essential to promote market transformation towards sustainable fishing," stressed Laura Rodriguez, MSC director in Spain and Portugal.
