The collaboration is based on creating educational content that sparks curiosity among children to learn about sustainable and nutritious food systems
Kvarøy Arctic Teams Up with Whole Kids Foundation
(NORWAY, 8/19/2022)
Kvarøy Arctic joins forces with Whole Kids Foundation, a nonprofit established by Whole Foods Market, as their official sponsor and supporter in their mission to improve children’s nutrition in the US. The Norway-based, sustainable salmon farm has pledged a USD 10,000 annual contribution for 2022, with plans on expanding the program in 2023.
One of the most important topics for all generations to understand is where our food comes from, and why it matters. By exploring sustainable food production with our kids, Kvarøy Arctic is equipping them with a fundamental knowledge that ultimately supports the overall health of our oceans, planet, animals, and people.
The collaboration is based on creating educational content that sparks curiosity among children to learn about sustainable and nutritious food systems. This partnership will develop and provide engaging resources for teachers, parents, students, and school communities as both organizations share the vision that children’s education on healthy eating and climate-friendly food systems go hand in hand. With a focus on healthy eating, the environment, and sustainability, Kvarøy Arctic and Whole Kids Foundation can help kids eat better while enjoying it!
To spark excitement, creativity, and conversation — Kvarøy Arctic has collaborated with homeschool tutors and teachers, registered dietitians, The Marine Mammal Center, as well as sustainability experts to develop a series of A.C.T.S. ( Art, Cooking, Technology, Science) activities that encourage kids to learn and experience sustainable aquaculture in a fun way!
Kvarøy Arctic’s CEO, Alf-Goran Knutsen says: “Quality of life for the world’s children in 2050 depends on our decisions today. Every decision we make must stem from a deeply rooted commitment to protecting the planet for future generations. There’s an old saying, ‘We do not inherit the world from our parents. We borrow it from our children.’ This is the tenet from which all of our actions are based. Kvarøy Arctic has been committed to being a part of a contributive and sustainable food system since 1976.”

“An important part of Whole Kids Foundation’s mission has always been about inspiring families. Our partnership with Kvarøy will allow us to broaden our educational support for teachers and families everywhere and help them discover small healthy eating changes that can make a big difference in their nutrition and wellness,” said Nona Evans, Executive Director of Whole Kids Foundation. “The team at Kvarøy truly understands that our kids have an enormous capacity to understand where food comes from and the impact it has on our bodies and environments. Together we hope to fuel the next generation of healthy leaders!”
