Agrosuper seeks to increase its capital by USD 400 million

The company Agrosuper announced a call for an extraordinary shareholders meeting for January 14 to define a capital increase.

As reported by the company in an essential fact sent to the Commission for the Financial Market, the meeting will address the issue of an increase in share capital by an approximate amount of CLP 272,253 million, equivalent to around USD 400.9 million.

This capital increase would be made through the issuance of payment shares, or by the amount and quantity of shares determined by the Shareholders' Meeting.

In the note, the legal manager of Agrosuper, Luis Felipe Silva, indicates that the purpose of the capital increase is to finance the investment plan of the company.

It should be recalled that in December last year, the National Economic Prosecutor's Office (FNE) approved the concentration operation consisting of the acquisition of the shares of Empresas AquaChile S.A. (AquaChile) by Agrosuper SA.

The agreement between the two companies, reached in August 2018, contemplated the purchase of 67 percent of the salmon company Empresas AquaChile from its majority shareholders.

With the purchase of AquaChile, Agrosuper will become one of the largest salmon producers in the world.
