Avramar begins to forge itself with the union of three independent companies: Andromeda, Nireus and Selonda. At the beginning of 2019, they formed a single company that would be renamed Avramar, a name that represents the combination of our experience, passion and heritage.
They have all been pioneers and leaders in Mediterranean aquaculture for several decades, farming Greek fish in the Aegean and Ionian Seas and Spanish fish along the Mediterranean coast and the Canary Islands.
The chosen name is a combination of the Greek word "AVRA", which means breeze, and the Spanish "MAR". With a total production volume of more than 70,000 tons and a presence in more than thirty countries, Avramar has become the world's leading brand of seabass and seabream and the largest fish producer in the Mediterranean.
Avramar's strategy aims to create a solid and competitive group, investing in the growth of its product portfolio and in the expansion of its markets, supported by modern and efficient facilities in Greece and Spain. The company will continue to develop the well-known Mediterranean species, seabass and sea bream, but will also expand its offer with two other lesser-known species - although equally delicious - sea bass and pink snapper.
Innovation through value-added products that are easier to prepare and cook will reinforce the company's goal of being the preferred fresh fish option on the market. In terms of operations, the company plans to apply new technologies and methods to achieve more efficient and competitive costs. Avramar's commitment to sustainability, local communities, customers and partners is its top priority, alongside long-term investments in Research and Development.
