Established with the aim of representing the entire value chain of the fishing product (extractive, processing and marketing sector), the only Interprofessional Fishing Organisation in Spain, INTERFISH, was born in 2019.
Mission and vision
To address, in a coordinated manner, all those issues related to the most relevant commercial species for its members, integrating the value chain of the sector in favour of common interests and creating synergies to overcome current challenges, including the promotion of consumption of fishing products.
Objectives
Specifically, INTERFISH was born with 10 objectives:
Improve coordination and conditions to make fishing and aquaculture products available on the market.
Dissemination of their properties, characteristics and improvement of information to the consumer.
Make production, processing and marketing activities visible to give them value to the consumer.
To ensure the proper functioning of the food chain and to promote good practices in the relations between its partners as they are participants in the value chain.
To act on behalf of the sector in relation to matters where the interests of the production, processing and marketing of blue shark (Prionace glauca), shortfin mako (Isurus oxyrinchus) and swordfish (Xiphias gladius) converge.
To promote the consumption of fishery products in general and more specifically the promotion of blue shark (Prionace glauca), shortfin mako (Isurus oxyrinchus) and swordfish (Xiphias gladius).
Social responsibility, efficiently managing all the resources used to guarantee economic, social and environmental sustainability.
To develop studies to improve knowledge and transparency of the markets.
To promote R&D&I initiatives as a tool to improve competitiveness.
Representation before public or private bodies, at the regional, state, community and international levels, in defence of their legitimate interests.
