AS Bolaks was founded in 1975 by Reidar brothers, Trygve and Egil Holmefjord. Like his father, they were able sardine fishermen, taking with him the knowledge to live on and on sea, and to deal with fish, in a good way. Through natural growth for several generations, the family has Holmefjord and their staff built up the business of a solid breeding company in Norway.
Brothers Holmefjord started in farming industry's infancy, and therefore had to develop the industry to develop its business. They obtained wild salmon from the rivers, produced eggs and fry, made cages and custom nets.
This is part of the reason that Bolaks today is a fully integrated producer of Atlantic salmon. We are involved in all stages of the process - from breeding to finished packaged fish. It gives us particularly well placed to ensure traceability, and customize products to customer requirements.
