Aware of Ecuadorian market needs in terms of providing extruded fish feed, Gisis began operations in late 1994, renting a room in the city of Babahoyo. From this beginning, Gisis stood out for teams working with the best technology, and the first floor I trade was with Wenger teams.

The initial production capacity of 1 MT / h in 1997, has a capacity increase to 2 ton / h.

In 2001 leased the plant is delivered and installed a new extrusion line balanced plant Expalsa shrimp in Duran. For this new line is continued with the policy of using Wenger teams.

In 2007 starts the construction of the new plant for extruded products for aquaculture and pets, using latest technology equipment, such as European mills, extruders and dryers Wenger counterflow.

Thus Gisis had to be always innovating and improving their processes, managing to have a steady growth from the initial 2,000 MTPA to 120,000 MT of installed capacity. And this has been done through higher asset that shareholders have believed, as people.

On 8 October 2012 Nutreco announced the acquisition of 75% of the shares in Gisis, the shrimp and fish feed subsidiary of the Expalsa group.
