A subsidiary of Wesfarmers, Coles Group is one of the country's largest retailers with more than 2,230 supermarkets (Coles and Bi-Lo), liquor (Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, 1st Choice), and combination gas stations and convenience stores (Coles Express).
Its also operates e-commerce site Coles Online. It also operates a portfolio of some 95 hotels across Australia. Coles sold its Myer department stores in mid-2006 and changed its corporate moniker from Coles Myer to better reflect the chain's sale. Perth-based conglomerate Wesfarmers acquired Coles Group for more than $18 billion in late 2007.
