4-tray, 8-tray, and 16-tray vertical incubators are available to use in various combinations to maximize use of available manpower, floor space, and water supply. The design and construction of these vertical incubators offers several advantages: Vertical Flow: Fresh water enters the rear of a water tray, at the top of the cabinet, upwells through the egg tray and flows over the front wall inside the water tray into a channel which feeds the next lower water tray unit. Accessability: Each water tray is designed to slide easily forward on level tracks from the front of the cabinet, enabling eggs to be worked on and returned to the tray without removing it from the vertical incubator cabinet. Hatchery personnel may remove individul egg trays entirely to monitor the progress of eggs and fry without distrurbing the remaining trays in the stack. Versatility: Marisource cabinets may be used in single 8-tray application or may be stacked atop each other to form 16 tray configurations without consuming additional floor space. In the stacjed application, a second water source may be introduced to the lower units, thus insuring ample oxygen for each incubator. Marisource also manufactures a 4-tray incubation unit for small quantity applications such as educational or laboratory environments for segregated batch incubation of hybrid eggs. Materials: The cabinet itself is constructed of a one-piece welded aluminum frame for lightweight, convenience in stackability, corrosion resistance, and a long useful life. Interior components are molded of plastic which may be easily cleaned, disinfected after or prior to each use, and are resistant to corrosion. Materials will netiher rust nor attck eggs chemically. All incubation components will float. |

Water Tray : Injection molded of durable impact resistant material which will not crack if dropped on cement floors. Material is nontoxic, cleans easily, and should be disinfected before and after each use.
Egg Tray : Made of injection molded, durable impact-resistant plastic for dependable service. Design includes a flotation chamber and recess screen seat to create a seal between the egg tray and water tray, forcing the water flow to well up thorugh the egg basket.
Egg Tray Lid: Slope contours and hinge tabs allow easy removal of the lid with minimal disturbance of eggs. Additional 1" vertical rib on the lid's lower surface insures positive seal between egg tray and lid, elimintaing the possibility of warpage or bowing which allows fry to escape.
Fiberglass Screen: PVC coated for longer wear and easier maintenance. Mesh is species specific: 12x12 (12 strands on the horizontal and 12 on the vertical per square inch) for salmon eggs; 14x18 for trout eggs.
Locking Pin: Molded to tray and locks, ensuring tray's stability.
Clean Out Rod: Constructed of rustproof stainless steel. Enables silt and other debris to be removed without disturbing eggs.
Rubber Stopper: Stopper seat is molded into water tray for positive seal. Stoppers are manufactured of a soft rubber compound for longer life and better grip. Stoppers should be checked every three years for replacement.
VERTICAL INCUBATOR ACCESSORIES:
Isolation Panels: Front and rear isolation panels easily retrofit to all 4-tray, 8-tray, and 16-tray cabinets to protect uncontaminated eggs from infection by mist or splash conatining virus, bacteria or parasites.
Drip Pan: Fits both 4-tray and 8-tray cabinets. Controls flow of used water to the back of the cabinet and into designated water discharge system.

Tray Segregation: To seperate eggs within an individual tray, without providing a seprate water source to prevent contamination. Nontoxic plastic dividers secured with a simple glue bead to egg tray base. Multiple dividers may be used within a single tray. Code #5651.
Discharge Control Kits:
Front Discharge Kit: Two Specially molded plastic dams are installed, one each of the two outflow channels. The dam s form a positive seal against the sides of the water tray. Plastic tubing forms a tight connection to the rear of each dam. Spent water travels through the tubing to be discharged at a safe distance.
Rear Discharge Kit: This specially modified water tray permits front discharge of spent water. Again, two plastic dams are installed in outflow channels, but these dams are sealed. Spent water is forced foreard to be discharged throughout the PVC pipe assembly. Plastic tubing is applied to the end of the pipe assembly, and spent water removed to a safe distance.

The remote site barrel incubator creates a controlled environment for
incubation in wild and secluded locations where the amentities of a hatchery
cannot be provided.
The barrel is placed in a remote location beside a small stream. Because the system must depend on gravity feed, plumbing for the water source must be located above the barrel. The standpipe connected to the plumbing aerates and controls the water level. Once the water enters the barrel it upwells through a screen embedded with pea gravel to further settle the water and supply even flow throughout the barrel. |
Having traveled up through the substrate and the egg baskets,
the spent water is channeled back into the stream.
As the eggs hatch, alevin take shelter in the yolk sack and are ready tp enter the stream. When this process is complete, egg baskets must be removed to enable the fry to swim up through the barrel channel and follow the water source to the stream. Barrel Components (Top to Bottom): Egg Baskets: Six 22" (55.88 cm) diameter baskets accomodate the eggs until they hatch. Each holds approximately 10,000 trout eggs or 12,000 salmon eggs. Substrate: Nontoxic and noncorrosive black plastic material serves to aerate and provides a hiding place for fry. Pea Gravel: Settles the water source for an even flow throughout the incubator Diffuse: Connects to outside plumbing and initiates aeration of water source. Please inquire for pricing on the complete system or for replacement parts. |
