The Norwegian Pelagic Fishing Course in Week 33
NORWAY
Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 01:00 (GMT + 9)
New 34,000 tonnes of mackerel a week that went after great efforts out at sea
Mackerel:
The weekly quantity was the same as week 32, but with even more boats on the field. On Saturday, as many as 82 boats were in turn and it was also the best day with over 11,000 tonnes registered. On Wednesday and Thursday, the north wind created poor conditions for the sea fleet.
On Friday, the fishing peaked at 7,200 tonnes and after the good day, 4,100 tonnes were also caught on Sunday.
At the end of the week, the fleet gathered at 65 degrees, in the Norwegian zone east of the Smutthavet where most of the catch was taken. A larger Icelandic and Faroese fleet is gathered in Smutthvat around 60 nm west / northwest of the Norwegian.

There have been varying sizes of catch volumes and the average has ranged from 330 grams to 440 grams.
125 tonnes of mackerel have also been caught in lofoten and around 120 tonnes locked in the south between Bergen and Ryfylke
So far, around 25% or about 84,000 tonnes of mackerel have been taken from the quota of 305,000. More than 40 vessels are active in the field, with more on their way after unloading.
A handful of vessels are on the edge fishing in the North Sea. Week 33 yielded around 1,450 tons of blue whiting, 700 tons of eyeballs plus some herring.
Herring
Around 300 tonnes of NVG herring were taken by the coastal fleet in Lofoten and a smaller catch on the Møre coast
We also had a clean North Sea herring catch of 150 tonnes west of Bergen.
