The presentation of an offer for USD 178 million to buy Nova Austral, a Chilean salmon subsidiary of the Galician multinational firm Pescanova, was expected for Tuesday at the meeting of creditors of Acuinova.
According to what Diario Financiero reported, the offer would make Ewos, a fish feed company that until recently was part of the Norwegian company Cermaq.
Out of the total, USD 175 million was used to pay the refinanced debts of Nova Austral and USD 3 million will be in the hands of Acuinova while undergoing a creditors´ meeting proceedings, under the trustee Mariclara González.
If the offer of Ewos becomes successful, the transaction could be settled within the next 60 days.
Last week, PescaChile reached an agreement with Pescanova, through which the Spanish multinational firm gave its consent for the trustee to sell Herman Chadwick to be able to sell the fisheries assets of Chile.
On the other hand, the companies Pharmaq AS Chile Limitada and the association Sociedad Servicios Marítimos y Portuarios Altamar (Offshore Marine and Port Services) have appealed the Fourth Civil Court of Santiago to demand the payment of debts contracted by Nova Austral, totalling around EUR 600,000, the newspaper Faro Vigo reported.
For the Chilean court, where a bill is not paid "credit is enforceable and must be initiated through a preparatory procedure to the executive route called collection notice". And this is what both companies have done.
