Marel Ready for New EU Labeling Rules
(ICELAND, 12/10/2014)
Marel’s Innova Labeling software enables fish processors to create labels that fulfill the new EU legislative requirements coming into force 13 December.
All fish processors operating within the EU need to comply with the new EU Regulation 1169/2011, which affects labels accompanying all fishery and aquaculture products for EU consumers.

The legislation includes changes to mandatory nutrition information on processed seafood, mandatory labeling of catch area or country of production, and allergens information requirements.
Marel developed Innova Labeling to meet the food industry’s need for control and automation of the labeling process from receiving to dispatch.
The software module’s visual label designer lets processors create labels with texts, images, barcodes, and line graphics, using simple drag and drop options and real-time visualization.
Label contents are fully customizable, so it is easy to comply with new customer, production, or legislative requirements.
