Lumar Natural Seafood made a deal with Edeka German supermarket chain for the sale of ultra-frozen tuna suprème worth EUR 1 million.
Edeka is the largest supermarket chain in Germany with about 4,100 business premises, representing 26 per cent of the total.
With the closing of this important contract, Lumar strengthens its position in Germany, a very demanding market for quality and sustainable responsible handling of seafood.
Germany is the most important market is Europe for the Galician company, which is the first food company in Spain that is listed on the Alternative Investment Market (MAB).
"It's another step in our internationalization strategy because we are consolidating our position in one of the most stringent European markets," said Lumar CEO Javier Martinez according to Xornal Galicia.
"The market is demanding because it is at the forefront of responsible fishing and sustainability policies that we have followed rigorously in our company for many years," he added.
On the other hand, Lumar also recently closed a contract with the firm Biedronka in Poland for the supply of premium tuna suprème.
For the Spanish company, this business "shows that the most important suppliers share with Lumar their interest in innovative products and solutions in the market for responsible and healthy food," the agency Europa Press reported.
